U.S. inbound shipments' low value has increased from $200 to $800

As per the U.S. Government rule, a low-value of shipments has increased from $200 to $800. All imported shipments to the U.S. valued at $800 or under can be free of duties or taxes.

However, some commodities regulated by U.S. government agencies might require an examination, and a formal entry regardless of value. Below are some of the excluded commodities:

  • Alcohol or perfume containing alcohol
  • Cigars and cigarettes
  • Medications or medical devices
  • Goods subject to U.S. Fish and Wildlife
  • Goods subject to U.S. FDA regulation valued over $200
